JOB SUMMARY: Provide architecture leadership and direction for an assigned group. Lead technical projects and support computer systems, their planning, configuration, testing, and implementation. Provide integrated systems planning and recommend innovative technologies that will enhance the current system. Establish and communicate architecture and design tenets and ensure compliance in all relevant areas.
MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish, Lead, plan, define, and implement best practices/standards for web development.
• Expert at all three tiers of the web environment (web, application and database)
• Participate on large-scale projects by providing application architecture guidance and expertise.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application architects to design enterprise-class solutions.
• Provide input, recommendations, and planning into the standards setting process.
• Provide leadership, training, mentorship, and direction to other team members.
• Provide technical and architecture assistance to implementation teams.
• Lead project scoping, strategy and management.
• Implement and test new or modified services and/or programs.
• Lead and manage technical research functions.
• Serve as a project leader on large-sized technical projects. Prepare and execute plans and schedule resources. Estimate costs, project deliverables and completion dates.
• Work with and advise clients in areas assigned on project needs and design.
• Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
• Maintain current industry knowledge of applicable data modeling practices, tools, and trends.
• Work under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
• Guide the successful completion of major programs and function in a project leadership role.
• Serve as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Act as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.
• Work independently with end-users and business partners to understand requirements and design and estimate solutions. Handle multiple project assignments concurrently.
• Develop and maintain a broad theoretical understanding of current hardware and software technologies.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in three or more mission critical technologies. Is recognized and sought out as an expert in these technologies by peers. Stay up-to-date on developments in technology and have a broad practical knowledge of many technologies. Provide meaningful future trends analysis proactively.
• Ensure that Medtronic's systems and the information on them are protected in accordance with Medtronic's Information Protection Policies and Standards, as well as best Information Protection practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
• 14+ years of IT experience with B.A or B.S.; 12+ years of IT experience with M.A. or M.S.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
• Experience in architecture and design of complex IT solutions
• 5+ years Java development
• 5+ years database experience (Oracle, SQL, Toad, etc)
• 2 years’ experience with Spring and Hibernate frameworks
• 2 years’ experience with JavaScript and one or more JavaScript frameworks
• Grails expertise
• Agile development experience
• WebLogic experience

• Conceptual and logical data modeling
• Business knowledge
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or business related discipline
