Position Description
The Network Engineer is responsible for analysis, troubleshooting, installation and configuration of company global LAN/WAN network operations, including wireless, VoIP, and firewalls. Provides level II support, guidance and direction for operations outside of the core team. Works under general supervision.  Works on problems of diverse scope where the analysis of the situation requires evaluation and judgment.  Manages network operations relationship and projects. Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards. Daily activities include monitoring network performance, troubleshooting problems and maintaining network security. Other activities include configuring routers, switches, wireless systems, VoIP, firewalls, and end user devices. Participates in network planning and engineering.

Position responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
•        Support and Maintenance
•        Ensures analysis, installation and configuration of company LAN/WAN networks, including wireless, VoIP, routers, switches, and firewalls. 
•        Provides internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.  Monitors and analyzes network performance.
•        Provides level 2 support, guidance and direction for Operations outside of the core team.
•        Participates in network and end user device planning and engineering. 
•        Works on problems of diverse scope where the analysis of the situation requires evaluation and judgment. 
•        Prioritizes, completes, and oversees projects within scheduling guidelines.
•        Build, maintain, and audit all network and end user device related documentation as it relates to configuration, processes, service records, asset inventories, topologies, administration manuals, job instructions, support contacts etc.
•        Troubleshoots network problems leveraging various tools, including packet sniffers.
•        Configures routers, switches, wireless systems, and firewalls
•        Interfaces with vendor support services
•        Ensures implementation and operations of IP-based load balancing environments.
•        Supports, but not limited, the following end user devices: Desktops, Laptops/Tablets. Thin Client Machines, Printers, Cellular Phones, & other Wireless Devices
•        7x24 Support and participation in an on-call rotation

Minimum Requirements
•        Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of experience in IT Infrastructure/Network environments OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of experience in an IT capacity.
•        At least 2 years of experience providing support of enterprise level networks, such as routers, switches 
•        At least 2 years of experience support end user devices.
•        Knowledge of IP-based networks for the purpose of implementation, operations and troubleshooting
•        Knowledge of IP routing protocols, including EIGRP, RIPv2, and BGP
•        Experience with Network Analysis Sniffer tools

Preferred  Requirements
 •        Certification such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Professional, provided by Cisco.
•        Experience with load balancing technologies, such as F5 and/or Cisco
•        Experience with firewall technologies, such as Cisco
•        Experience with managing external vendors/partners
•        Experience with performance and analysis tools such as SolarWinds
•        Experience communicating technical information both verbally (on phone, one-on-one, to groups) and in writing (emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various technical and non-technical audiences (work group, team, company management, prospective acquisitions, external clients).
•        Experience working with all application owners and other IT stakeholders to build and support the most efficient and stable networking capabilities

•        Experience with 24 X 7 support leadership in conjunction with a managed services network provider maintaining accountability and measurement of uptime
