Client is currently looking for a Senior Datastage Developer, to design, guide and develop scripts for the Extract/Transform/Load processes within the structure defined by the Architecture Group. This includes all aspects of the process including development of monitoring processes for performance and execution completion for scripts that are put in place.
Skills Required:
• 7-8 years of experience in Business Intelligence a Data Warehouse
development
• 8-10 years of experience with IBM Datastage (V8 and V9 experience a plus)
• Strong working knowledge of Oracle, DB2-400 and MS SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence best practices
• Strong documentation skills
• Working knowledge of Unix OS (IBM AIX preferred)
• IBM Datastage Developer certification a plus
Job Description:
This position is for ETL developer role with United Guaranty O&S Enterprise
Data Management. The candidate should have strong knowledge in design,
development, testing and implementing ETL jobs (both server and parallel) in
IBM DataStage
Candidate needs to have strong problem solving skills. Candidate will be expected
to :
• Resolve conflicts in data values from disparate sources.
• Work with peers to determine correct value and document for future
usage.
• Resolve issues with job completion and performance.
• Review of job logs and analysis of error messages from applications.
• Determine resolution and corrective action based on findings in application
documentation and personal knowledge.
Tasks Breakdown:
• Design/Develop scripts 50%
• Ensure designs take advantage of architecture for maximum performance 20%
• Design/Develop monitors for performance and execution 15%
• Co-ordinate inclusion of metadata from all data sources to be used 5%
• Troubleshooting of issues in jobs in all environments 5%
• Automation of jobs within the framework 5%
Good communications skills needed as this is a “green field” build out of a Data Warehouse and ETL environment.
Individual drive to succeed and assume the initiative within parameters will be needed. Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school (also known as foundation degree, diploma)
