• Provide expert services in architecting, designing and implementing Data Warehouse, Data Mart, and Business Intelligence solution.
• Analyze the existing DW Architecture, identify the improvement opportunities, and design, develop, and implement the enhancements to deliver a DW solution which is based on industry ‘Best Practices, is flexible and scalable to meet future business needs.
• Design, develop, and implement Specialty Data Mart from ground up, enabling easy-to-use self-service analytical and reporting environment.
• Provide leadership to and collaborate with development project team members.
Key Experience / Skills
• 5 to 7 years of experience in design, development, and implementation of end-to-end Data Warehousing, Data Marts, and Business Intelligence solutions.
• Provides Technical Leadership to Database design, ETL Design and Development, Testing and Certification, Data Modeling, and Presentation and Delivery teams.
• Possesses expert data modeling skills (i.e., conceptual, logical and physical design – with both traditional 3rd normal form as well as dimensional modeling (star, snowflake).
• Translates business requirements into functional and technical specifications to enable and shape the design process.
• Deploys a structured delivery methodology across sub-teams.
• Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Data Warehouse and Subject Area Data Marts aligned with current business needs while the architecture is flexible and scalable to meet future business needs.
• Evaluates the work products and design deliverables.
• Team Leader who develops and maintains a healthy team environment.
• Provides detailed estimates for all deliverables related to the project.
• Works with Project Manager to ensure the on-time and under/within budget delivery of work products.
• Addresses data-related problems in regards to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integration.
• Provides technical leadership in mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality.
• Proven ability to be pragmatic - understand business needs, requirements, and constraints, evaluating trade-offs, and making sound/practical decisions.
• Strong conceptualization and abstraction skills.
• Seeks for opportunities to reuse, share, consolidate and leverage existing data architectures.
• Promotes and increase the use of data as a re-usable asset.
• Ability to articulate rational for data architecture and design decisions to both technical and managerial audiences.
• Facilitates meetings with business and technical staff.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
Requested Technology/Industry Expertise
• Insurance industry experience, especially in Property and Casualty domain, is heavily preferred.
• Insurance data model experience, such as IAA and Accord.
• Experience in data integration and Meta Data Management using Informatica.
• Experience in Presentation and Data Delivery using Business Objects.
• Strong and broad knowledge of database design tools (ERWIN etc.).
Requested Education
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
Requested Mobility
• Work on site in Grand Rapids, may require very limited regional travel.
Requested Language Skills
• Excellent written and oral skills in English.
